Shockwave therapy is a non-invasive treatment that uses acoustic waves to promote soft tissue healing. With an existing evidence base in human medicine, shockwave therapy has been a more recent innovation in horses, and has proved useful in promoting quicker recovery following orthopaedic injury, through mechanisms such as release of growth factors and angiogenesis (growth of new blood vessels). It can also provide a direct and immediate pain-relieving effect. We are able to offer this service on yard visits with our portable shockwave machine.
