Internal Medicine

Diagnosis of medical conditions can sometimes be made from a clinical examination alone, but in other cases requires further work up such as blood tests. Our vets will be able to advise you as to the most appropriate blood test for each individual situation. This may take the form of specific tests for common metabolic conditions such as PPID (pituitary pars intermedia dysfunction) and EMS (equine metabolic syndrome), or in other cases can involve general screen blood tests. These general screens provide information on haematology and biochemistry, and can be useful in diagnosing the following diseases, amongst others:

Biochemsistry

Liver disease, kidney disease, parasitism, myopathies (disorders of muscle),

Haemotology

Infection, disorders of red blood cells and white blood cells, clotting disorders
